Canceling That

Well, I am officially an East Coast expatriate.

I've been here, on the left coast, for long enough now that I might as well call myself one. I was born on the East Coast, grew up on the East Coast, went to school on the East Coast...Growing up on the East Coast taught me a lot about who I am as a person: mainly that I was not interested in staying there. So, here I am, living in the Bay Area.

I've found myself in an interesting place, though. Never have I been satisfied with being the "norm". If the norm is right, I go left. So, it only made sense that after getting my art degree from a small liberal arts school in the Shanendoah Valley, I wind up working in the heart of the Silicone Valley at one of the many Castro St. startups. Probably 70% of the people I know code. I do not. So, how did I end up where I am? A video game, and Craigslist. (What else?)

So, this is my topsy-turvey life, 3,000 miles away from what I've always called home, in a totally different environment than I've ever experienced. I've gone from straight-laced, religious right in a very red state, to couch surfing my way around the Bay, hippying out, and working in an industry I never thought I'd get in to.

I'm canceling the norm.
